∙ 16y agoConnect a fuel pressure gauge. There should be a test port somewhere near the injectors. Watch the fuel pressure. If it drops just as the engine dies, you probably have a problem with the circuit that keeps the fuel pump running.
When you are starting the engine the fuel pump turns on for a few seconds. After the engine is running the fuel pump is allowed to stay on. It depends on how the manufacturer implemented the circuit, it could be a relay, fuse, loose connection or who knows what. Have you fitted the new filter the correct way The direction of flow should be marked on a new filter.

can the fuel injectors on a 1994 grand marquis be checked without removing them from the engine, if so what type of instrument do i use
I have a 93 GMC Safari and when I have that problem, it has always been the gas that got. Once the fuel injectors needed to be replaced. Have your fuel injectors checked. My van does it every time I use any gas other than Amoco.

That depends entirely on what is wrong with it. You need to have the system checked for codes. You can then diagnose the causes of the code. Most parts for the electronic throttle system are not repairable, they must be replaced if faulty.
first replace the fuel filter. they should be changed about twice a year. I'm not sure where it may be located. if that doesn't fix the problem. you need to have the fuel pump checked to see if it is putting out the correct fuel pressure. if not it obviously needs to be replaced. if the fuel pump is good and the filter is good/replaced. have the injectors checked. these are the most common issues to be checked first. i wish i could be more helpfull.
