The crankshaft is the part of the ignition system that watches engine speed. To remove the sensor, pull the battery cable with slip joint pliers, lift the front of the car with a floor jack and chock the back tires, find the crankshaft sensor and unplug the electrical connector, clean around the area and unscrew the sensor mounting bolt. To install, make sure the new sensor has an O-ring seal and set the sensor in place, start the bolt by hand and finish tightening with a wrench (careful not to over tighten), plug the electrical connector and install any parts you had to remove. Lower the vehicle and remove the chocks.
