The same as a conventional car. They have an alternator connected to the gas powered engine.

My hybrid has a special battery and when I bought it I was warned not to jump it or let anyone but the dealership work with it. The car uses the battery in a different way than the normal battery and will switch from gas to battery operation to save gas. It charges while I drive it and as I break.

Are used hybrid cars efficient in fuel and friendly to our environment?

Absolutely. Used hybrid cars are just as useful as used gasoline cars. There are fears that the batteries are "used up" in used hybrid cars, but the lifetime of the batteries is very long and this should not be a problem.

Is there a problem with the batteries used in the hybrid vehicles?

The batteries in a hybrid vehicle are probably the absolute best feature of the automobile. They are state of the art systems with incredible storage capacity for their size.

What are Nickel-metal hydride batteries used in?

the electric engines of hybrid cars. that's where the hybrid engine is getting its power from.

Checking Battery Life When Buying Used Hybrid Cars?

The biggest concern consumers should have when buying a used hybrid car is about the battery. Depending on the hybrid vehicle, batteries have a lifetime between 3 and 10 years, but most batteries deplete much sooner. In addition to the final sale price of a used hybrid car, a consumer may have to pay several thousand more dollars for a battery replacement. It's important to remember that original batteries have a limited warranty which may expire by the time a used hybrid is sold.

What is a charge controller used for?

A charge controller is a regulator that you used to keep batteries from overcharging as well as undercharging. You need to keep batteries that are in storage charged so a charge controller will help to keep them at the right charge level.

Is sunlight used to charge batteries?

It can be used with a solar battery charger.

How are plug-in hybrid cars different from regular hybrid cars?

A hybrid does not plug into an outlet, all of the electricity used to charge its batteries comes from a fossil fuel engine on the car.Electric cars, on the other hand, can only be charged from an outlet, which takes a long time. They are very cheap and environmentally-friendly to operate, but the distance they can travel is limited, and charging stations only exist in a few places.Plug-in hybrids are the best of both worlds. They are like regular hybrid cars except that they can also charge their batteries by plugging them into the wall. So for short common trips, like driving to work every day, they can be recharged during the night and then drive fully-electric, saving energy. For long trips, the gasoline engine can be used to charge the batteries, giving them long range, and they don't need to be plugged into a charging station to operate; the engine can provide energy if there's no charging station around.

Why do hybrid cars ruin the environment?

the chemicals and things that are used to make the batteries are more damaging. you have to drive a hybrid ace 100 thousand miles to make up for the damage it does

How do hybrid vehicles increase global warming?

Hybrid vehicles contribute to global warming due to the production and disposal of their batteries, which can release harmful greenhouse gases. Additionally, the electricity used to charge hybrid vehicles often comes from fossil fuel sources, further increasing carbon emissions.

How battery chargers work?

A battery charger is used specifically for rechargeable batteries. It cannot be used with regular batteries. It's a base that's plugged into an electrical outlet. You place the batteries on the base to charge them to be used multiple times.

What is the life of a NiMH AAA Batteries?

A set of NiMH AAA batteries can last roughly a month on a full charge if they are not being used at all and are simply allowed to sit around. In devices such as cameras and small pda's where rechargeable batteries are best used, the batteries can last nearly as long as normal alkaline batteries on a full charge. Exact times depend on the capacities of the NiMH batteries. A charge lasts long enough for a camera to be used normally for several days and hundreds of shots. As long as the NiMH batteries are not allowed to be idle and self-discharge, the life of a single charge is almost as long as a full alkaline battery. The life of the battery itself can easily be several years. NiMH batteries don't need much maintaining and can last for hundreds of charge cycles.
