The oil pump is located inside the oil pan, mounted on the bottom of the engine block. Oil pan must be removed to access the pump. Once you remove the pan, the oil pump will be clearly visible.

Good question. I'm looking for a way to prime the pump before initial start-up of a Pontiac 350 that has sat for years. If, I were to have to change the pump, I would be looking at safely removing the oil pan, first

I'm not a mechanic / technician but I was looking at ford parts . com ( no spaces ) and it shows : A drive shaft from the bottom of the ( engine camshaft synchronizer ) to the ( oil pump )
