There are 2 sensors in the rear (and 2 in the front). The rear sensors are located on the bottom of the hub and bearing assembly. You will have to take off: The wheel, the brake caliper (with pads), and the brake rotor. After that there are 4 star head bolts (need a socket for them) to remove. Unclip the wire for the sensor as it leads from the hub to the body. Hopefully your hub is not rusted and will come out with a little tug. Otherwise get some penetrating oil and a slide hammer. Once the hub is out a small hex head will take out the bolt that holds the sensor in the hub. Clean everything before reassembly. Small amount of grease (should come with the sensor) on the sensor o-ring before installing it.
Good luck!
There are two on the trans and one at each wheel bearing.
There are two on the trasnmission and one at each wheel bearing.
There are two on the transmission and one at each wheel bearing.
The vehicle speed sensor is not an independent sensor. The transmission computer uses its output speed sensor to calculate vehicle speed. That signal is sent to the cluster for the speedometer. The ABS also measures wheel speed and it is compared to the transmission reading.
The computer will limit the top speed to about 100mph
The exact location of the speed sensor on a 1997 Honda Accord is on the very top of the transmission. There is a plug in, electronic speed sensor in this location.

Go to Kragen.com and search for speed sensor. You will find a picture of it.
The only speed sensor on the engine is inside the distributor.
It is on the front of the trans case, it is the two wire plug at the far driver side of the transmission.
The output speed sensor is the two wire sensor on the front, far driver side of the transmission.
