Generic Electronic Module
Generic Electronic Module
There isn't one, the indicators are controlled by the GEM (Generic Electronic Module).
Either your VSS (vehicle speed sensor) or your GEM Module (generic electronic module) is not working/broke.
GEM - Generic Electronic Module - incorporates the functions of several different modules into one and offers diagnostic codes to locate failures ( Haynes repair manual )
I believe the GEM is located in the center stack of the dash , remove the radio to gain access if it needs to be changed
As far as I know the GEM ( Generic Electronic Module ) controls the 4x4 on the 1995 Ford Explorer and I believe that is in the center stack of the dash behind and to the left of the radio
No.
I believe the generic electronic module ( 5.0 L - 1996 to 2001 ) is located behind the radio and to the left - disconnect your negative battery cable and then remove your radio to gain access
As far as I know , the 1995 Ford Explorer doesn't have a SEPARATE module for the 4 WD . That is also handled by the GEM ( Generic Electronic Module ) and I believe that is in the center stack of the dash and that you have to remove the radio to actually change it
What is a Generic Electronic Module? The Generic Electronic Module (GEM) is found on Ford vehicles and is basically a Body Control Computer. It controls many of the following functions on most Ford vehicles:Warning chimes and warning lampsOne-touch down driver's side windowDaytime Running LampsHeated rear windowWindshield washers and wipersBattery saverRemote keyless entryIlluminated entry with remote keyless entryInterior lightingPerimeter anti-theftFour-wheel driveThe GEM is bolted to the back of the fuse box.Sometimes though the fuse box gets water in it and causes the same problems too.
I'm not a mechanic / technician but I believe that the 4x4 Control Trac system on a 1995 Ford Explorer does not have a separate control module I believe the 4x4 system is controlled by the GEM ( Generic Electronic Module ) and that it is located in the center stack of the dash near the radio
