∙ 18y agoif 1st 4rd and 5th and reverse do fine, it would have to be in the transmission. clutch problems are noticable in all gears.

I have a 98 S10, 5 speed standard with 185K miles on it and I use Mercon in the transmission.
It is bolted to the flywheel on your transmission
Clutch chatter, clutch slippage and difficulty getting transmission into gear when stopped.
Inside the transmission bell housing. The transmission must be removed to gain access to the clutch slave cylinder.
It is made on to the clutch slave cylinder that mounts on the side of the transmission.
You will need to remove the transmission to replace the clutch slave.
It is inside of the transmission bell housing. You will have to remove the transmission to service it.
The clutch pedal is the one left of the brake pedal. The clutch disk the pedal affects is inside the transmission bell housing where the engine block bolts to the transmission. Unless you have an automatic, then your car has no clutch.
The hydraulic clutch reservoir is attached to the firewall. The hydraulic clutch slave cylinder is in front of the transmission. The transmission would have to be dropped to gain access to the slave cylinder.
It is inside of the transmission.
