Most have a 100,000 mile service interval.
long time
Platinum spark plugs are better becacuse they last longer than plugs with traditionalcopper electrodes when they are worn out from electrode deterioration (which is the mostcommonreason for failure). They can last twice as long.Theymay notlast any longer if the plugs are fouledby depositsdue to other problems.
As with any vehicle with spark plugs, the plugs are usually the weakest link. Most people will do it every year unless it is running platinum or iridium tipped plugs. Those usually last longer. I believe the maintenance listing is for 12 months or 12k miles.
A standard spark plug should last about 50K. A platinum tip plug should last 100K.
Spark plugs are a critical part to most modern engines, and are a part that you can replace yourself. Older types of spark plugs (pictured) can be replaced with platinum-tipped or multi-ground plugs, which have 2 or more bottom ground electrodes (hooks) and, typically, do not need gapping of the hook spacing. Although multi-ground plugs cost 2x or 3x times more, they can last years longer, avoiding replacement of hard-to-reach plugs, or in harsh climates, wilderness or sandy areas.
How long spark plugs last depends on the brand of spark plug and the condition of the car. In a well maintained car, some spark plugs will last from 3 to 7 years.
could be a number of things. The first thing i would do is check when the last time you had an engine tune up. Usually every 80000kms is recommended in a sentra. It most likely is the spark gap on your spark plugs, they could be getting old and need to be replaced. I recommend NKG spark plugs, you dont need platinum tipped ones, i find they cause more problems. I hope this helped.
Because spark plugs on many newer cars are so hard to get at you want them to last as long as possible. You can replace them with standard plugs but if they only last half as long, the labor involved makes that a poor value. I would stick to the platinum plugs. I hope this helps you. Mark Having researched Iridium spark plugs and installed sets in two Gm vehicles I highly recomend using them AC 41-101 is probably the correct one for your vehicle
Typically if you do not want to change plugs every couple of years the manufactures recommend platinum plugs. This is because platinum last longer , however it does not spark as good as some plugs because platinum is not a good conductor of electricity that is why companies like Bosch's makes platinum +4 with 4 electrodes to get more spark . They cost allot more .When you see the companies advertising you don't have to change your plugs for a 100,000 miles they use platinum. If you would like a hotter spark i would personally use Auto-light plugs they are good you will probably help your fuel mileage but they may need changed every 2 or 3 years depending on your driving habits the types of fuel you use and so on. Hope this information helps!!. Dwayne
iridium plugs are made to last 100,000 miles
When was the last time you changed your spark plugs and wires? DO NOT USE A FEELER GAUGE ON THE PLUGS... THEY ARE PRESET AT THE FACTORY AND A FEELER GAUGE OR GAPPING TOOL WILL RUIN THE PLATINUM COATING.
