I'm not a mechanic / technician but from what I have heard your engine oil
will turn kind of milky looking if antifreeze is getting into the engine oil
Also , the oil level will keep rising on the dipstick ( I did have a vehicle once
that I had pink colored antifreeze in it , the oil would actually float on top of
the antifreeze after the engine was shut down for a while , it wouldn't mix
but the oil level on the dipstick kept going up and the engine coolant kept
going down ( Sorry , I reviewed my answer and it's for coolant in the oil )
Check the oil for coolant ot the coolant for oil. It will be a yellowish colored crud. The car will probably overheat too.
Oil in coolant? Coolant in oil? Excessive white smoke from tailpipe when vehicle is at normal operating temperature? Engine miss or skip?
You can tell the oil cooler is bad in a Cadillac CTS 2003 when oil is in the coolant and the water turns into a white muddy substance
Oil mixing with coolant? Coolant mixing with oil? Low compression on 2 adjacent cylinders? White smoke from exhaust when engine is hot?
Your engine is mixing oil with the coolant. It could be a burned cylinder head gasket or a crack in the "cylinder head". It you continue to use the car, you will have coolant in the oil.
You should able to tell if it's leaking so I assume that you are not seeing any coolant where you park so it's a good chance you got a blown head gasket and the coolant is leaking in your cylinders and being burned off or leaking into your oil. Check your oil after running and if it is foamy it has coolant in it.
Oil in the coolant tank indicates a head gasket leak.
Oil and water do not mix. oil will float on top of coolant if you remove radiator cap this will be very visible, on the other hand coolant in oil will look milky white.
An oil coolant?æ hose is a tube or pipe that allows engine oil to circulate via the radiator in order to cool down. Without an oil coolant hose, oil will get to hot to operate efficiently.
Engine? 3.1L V6 are notorious for intake manifold gasket leaks. get it fixed soon or your engine is at risk. My Lumina had oil in coolant and coolant in oil. If there is tan foamy stuff on oil fill cap, coolant is in oil too.
well simply for any car you can tell by checking the oil or the oil cap. if you see white residue on the cap or on the dipstick you got water in the oil. if you also change the oil you can see water in it. that is simply the only ways you can know. good look with your alero
look for any mixing of coolant/water with your engine oil...on dipstick (looks like chocolate milk or frothy white), check your coolant reservoir for oil contamination...these are typical signs of a blown head gasket
