Hi,Once you have removed the tire on rim the breakdrum should come off by grasping it on each side and pulling on it.Sometimes the brakes can be too tight against it and you might have to tap on the edge all around with a hammer to get it loose. There is also a small cog wheel on the inside of the drum usually covered by a small black plug.Remove this plug and if you stick in a flat screwdriver you should be able to loosen the breaks with an up and down motion turning the cog wheel .hope this helps

How do you unsieze a parking brake on a 1987 ford escort?

First off, you need to take any tension out of the parking brake cable. If it is still siezed up you need to work the parking brake actuator back and forth at the wheel until it frees up. If it is still siezed up hit the brake drum with a large hammer as you pull on on the drum. If it is still seized up take cut the drum off with a torch.

How do you remove a froze up brake drum on your 1970 charger?

You will have to get a brake spoon and from the backside of the drum pull out the rubber plugs and look inside and you will see a gear wheel, the wheel needs to be turned downward to back the brake shoes off from the drum and then the drum should come off.

How do you get a tire off the axle on a 2001 Chevy prism?

Some basic car knowledge here: - the tire, the rubber donut, sits on a rim - the rim is then bolted to either a brake drum, a brake rotor or possibly a hub. You can't take a tire off the axle, as it isn't attached to it. You can take a tire off the rim, you can take a rim off a brake drum or a hub. And you can take a brake drum or a hub off an axle. Let us know which it is.

How do you take off the back drum brake of a 1999 Cavalier 24 Z24?

there's nothing to it. The shoe is putting pressure on the drum so you just have to yank it off basically. Just keep wiggling and waggling it back and forth, eventually it will slide right off.

How do you change rear brakes on a 1995 ford?

remove wheels remove brake drum brake drum is not bolted on ,but if it will not slide past brake shoes, you need to get under vehicle and back brakes off until they clear the drum then slide drum off remove brake parts, placing them on a towel or something similar ,and in the order that you take them off a good idea is to place each brake shoe, one to right and one to left of parts.you can then compare new brake shoes with old and know which one and how it installs on backing plate. wash all brake parts with a brake leaner one peice at a time and place back in order on towel washing with gaseline will not remove brake fluid now assembly of new brakes is exact opposite of dissasembly once assembled and brake drum back on , the brakes need to be adjusted.then test brakes
