I dont have that car, but on my cars, I just disconnect the battery and leave it over night. There might also be a fuse for PCM (Powertrain control module), pull those too. My grand am has 2 PCM fuses, one on the inside fuse box and one in the fuse box under the hood so be sure to check all your fuse boxes if you have multiple.
I don't know, but my 1996 golf just reset to zero tonight as I passed the 300,000km mark.

Disconnect the battery for about 1/2 hour and then re-connect
The DTE is reset by filling the gas tank. If this does not reset it then the Tripminder needs service such as cleaning all contacts or replacement.
The mark 2 golf crank sensor is usually on the flywheel.
its not how you mark your ball, its how you mark your titleist.

"According to the famous author Mark Twain, golf is a good walk spoiled."
Im not sure what the answer is but I have the same problem. I see someone also asked the question about a 2006 golf gti. It appears to be a regular problem-I thought it would be a simple answer. I was told its a combination of pressing the trip compuiter buttons in a sequence of some sort. I know that doesnt help at all.
