Remove wheel and brake caliper, remove caliper frame and ABS cable.Separate tie rod end and ball joint from steering knuckle. Remove hub nut and pull knuckle away from outer cv joint. Insert a thin pry bar between cv inner and transaxle case and jerk it to loosen cv joint. Re-install in reverse order.
CV joints on any car are part of a "half-shaft," and they run from the wheel to the transmission.
don't repalce just the cv joint. You should purchase a rebuilt axle, it will be cheaper and easier. You should be able to get a repair manual from you local library. This should be a fairly straight forward job.

u need a press tool like a clamp ask autoz or advance then the fun part holding it together and pressing the ball joint out use some tape after you do 1 its easy
take it to a mechanic!
The grinding noise in the front of a 1990 Dodge Caravan could be a cv joint. If it is, it probably only grinds when you take a sharp turn. There is one located on each side.
Check the engine mounts. If the engine is not square it will brake them all the time.
Failed wheel bearing, or the suspension is severely bent.
It is easier to replace the whole hub assembly. -remove wheel - remove caliper, brake pads and disk - disconnect tie rod end (separator required) - undo strut mount bolts - separate ball-joint (separator required)
The lower ball joints on a grand caravan, or any vehicle for that matter, are located at the front wheels, one each side, and connects the lower control arm to either the strut or the steering knuckle, whichever the vehicle uses.
Remove old ball joint. Reverse procedure to install new ball joint.
