There is no connection from the power steering system and the engine systems. Transmission fluid could be coming through a vacuum line. This may appear to be similar to power steering fluid.
unbolt the power steering line from the power steering pump. have another person inside the vehicle to start the engine. open the power steering reservoir. have the person inside turn the steering wheel back and fourth, left to right as you pour power steering fluid into the reservoir until it pours out clean from the unbolted line. make sure the loose line is seated into a pan or bucket to catch the fluid or you will have a mess. that should unclog the pump and the line. if the pump still doesn't work after you put the line back on, then you probably have a bad pump. replace the pump. hope this helps.
Noise may be heard in a power steering line when the power steering fluid is low. Low power steering fluid may occur due to a leaking power steering pump in most cases. If the pump is not leaking, then the fluid needs to be added.

there should be a line where you pour the power steering fluid telling you when to stop. if there isn't it should say in your car manual.
You may have blown the seal or you may have a leaky power steering pump, in either case you can look at the power steering lines. Follow the lines from the place where you fill the power steering fluid all the way down, look for any signs of a cut or split in the line or any of the power steering fluid on the outside of the line or underneath the line. Also check your driveway to see if a puddle of fluid appears and how quickly it grows.
