If you crawl under the front of the car you should see two bumper mounts these look like a tube with a flat metal plate on either end. One plate is bolted to the bumper and the other is bolted to the radiator support.

The bumper mounts are a shock absorber, so be aware that if these have been compressed too far due to damage they may need to be repalced (one or both) to get the bumper to line up evenly.

The plate on the bumper mount that attaches to the bumper has 2-4 bolts that go through it into the bumper. Simply remove these and the bumper will come off. I suggest you loosen all of them first, then remove all but one from each mount. This will prevent the bumper from falling off prematurely. Then get someone to support the bumper while you remove the remaining bolts. Be aware that if you have the turnign lights in the bumper you need to unplug the lights from the bumper before you remove it.

If you do not have an assistant, you can unbolt the bumper mount from the radiator support rather than from the bumper. It will stay in the radiator support even with all the bolts removed. Then once you have unbolted the mounts you cna climb out from under the car and pull the bumper straight out from the car and it will come out. Then if you are re-using the mount unbolt them and bolt them loosely to the new bumper.

For either method get the bumper back up on the car (bolt the mount firmly to the radiator support if you removed it. Then lift and adjust the bumper until you have it lined up the best you can, and tighten one bolt per side to keep it in place. Then go back and tighten the other bolts.

Will 1990 silverado 1500 front bumper fit a 1989 Chevrolet Suburban?

no considering the front is more boxy and wider in the front. the 1990 bumper is rounded to fit the 88-98 pickups , the suburban kept the box style until 1991. your best bet would be to find a 1973-1987 silverado, custom deluxe, cheyenne, or bonanza bumper or a suburban bumper from a 1973-1991 suburban
