The center console is held on by several mounting screws. To remove it from a Pontiac Sunfire unscrew all of the mounting hardware. The center console will then be able to be pried off.
If I remember correctly, there are a several bolts that come off, but then you need a steering wheel puller.
This question has come up several times. The answer seems to be to remove the housing around the steering column and look underneath. There are two flashers. Replace the one on the right. but don't quote me, OK? I stole this answer from one of the other posters
There are several reasons why the ABS light could be staying on in your 1995 Pontiac Sunfire. One reason is that the cable could have come loose. Another is that the fuse could be bad. To be on the safe side, you should have the car checked by your mechanic to see if there are any serious problems with the brakes themselves.
There could be several reasons why a 1996 Sunfire will turn over but not start. The most common reason is a spark plug needs to be replaced. Check with a licensed mechanic for further help.
Jiggle the steering wheel as you turn the key. I've owned several cars in which the steering wheel lock wouldn't let the key turn if there was any pressure on the steering wheel lock.
A faulty ignition switch can certainly prevent an engine from starting. Before wasting any more money, take the vehicle to the dealer and see what they'll do about the switch.
There is a recall on '97 sunfires ignition switches. My car wouldn't start and after trying it several times smoke started coming from the ignition column. they will install a relay switch w/ your ignition switch to convert high voltage away from it. If it doesn't start and you continually try it or hold it back too long it will start to burn as mine did A Pontiac dealership fixed it for free but I had to fight them on the towing costs. I would do a search on the recall or call a Pontiac/GM dealership and they can tell you if it goes towards yours... you! Also check for other recalls such as the PCM recall.
If you have a tilt steering column the movement is caused by the tilt mechanism literally coming apart. I had several cars with that problem, I went to a junkyard and bought replacement columns that were in good condition and replaced the entire column.
There are several warning lights on a Pontiac Sunfire. They include one for the engine coolant temperature, which looks like a thermometer. There is one for the battery charging system, which resembles a battery. There's one for the brakes, which looks like an exclamation point in a circle. There is one for low coolant which looks like three little waves in a box. There is one for the engine oil pressure, which looks like a teapot with a drop leaving the spout. Finally, there is one for the anti-lock brakes, and that has the letters ABS surrounded by a circle.
Could be your starter. See this write up I created when I replaced mine. http://hubpages.com/hub/Starter-Removal-1999-Pontiac-Grand-Prix.?Now bare in mind. It could be several things, from the starter, to the fuse, to the battery connections, as well as the neutral safety switch. What are the symptom's
The pump is located inside the fuel tank. The entire tank must be dropped to replace the pump. I suggest picking up a Haynes or Chilton manual for the car and following their directions. There are several safety issues that need to be addressed, as you're dealing with volatile fuel.
