You will need to remove the bezel around the dash. First remove the panel below the steering column by removeing the screws underneath. Then remove the screw insde the accessory power outlet door at the top right side of the bezel. then gently pry the bezel loose from its clips along the edge. When it comes loose you may have to raise or lower the steering wheel to remove it or even loosen the two bolts that hold the steering column up to allow room to slide the bezel out. After that just remove the screws around the cluster until you can pull it out to access the two plugs on the rear. At the bottom there is a cable that goes to the transmission display you will need to remove. Reinstall in reverse. Average time to R&R 30 minutes Good luck

Remove the instrument cluster cover. Each instrument gauge is secured separately with retaining screws. Remove the retaining screws from each gauge. Remove the wiring harnesses from each gauge.

I had the same problem with my 1998 Dodge Ram 1500. I reseated the instrument cluster and it started working. The whole thing took me 15 minutes and I am not a mechanic. I believe that I removed three screws to enable me to remove the plastic which covers the instrument cluster. I can't remember how many screws hold the cluster down but once you remove them pull the cluster out. It is simply plugged in, and those connections are your problem.

Usually, 'cluster', refers to the instrument/gauge cluster or instrument/gauge panel that the driver looks at, containing the speedometer, fuel gauge, etc.
