It does not have shocks on the front, it has struts. You better know what you are doing when replacing struts or you can get seriously injured. Take it to a pro.
If the struts are bad on any vehicle, including the Kia Optima, the automobile is going be very bouncy going down the road. The car will start to bounce and it will seem like it is never going to stop bouncing, even with the tiniest of bumps. It might also squeak when going over bumps.
It has Struts and not shocks. If the car is bouncing or floating whenever you hit a dip in the road, or seems to handle poorly, these are signs of worn struts. A leak in one of the struts is also a sign of a bad strut. Mileage is another factor. Struts today will last a long time, but if the car has over 100,000 miles, then more than likely the struts need replacing. As to replacing them, unless you have the proper tools and knowledge, take it to a pro. Serious injury can occur when replacing struts, if you don't know what you are doing.
a car can potentially have both shocks and struts. I don't know how common this is, but a car could have shocks in the front and struts in the back or vice versa. that is, depending on the combination, a car could have both, but I have never seen this.
shock absorbers , front and rear
struts only It depends on the model-the 2 Dr has shocks and the 4 dr has struts. The 2 door and 4 door models are totally different vehicles. The 4 door was a redesign whereas the 2 dr was going out of producti
To the best of my knowledge you can not add fluid to a normal strut . Some high end struts are adjustable but If your going to pay that kind of money just get someone to replace you struts with firmer ones.
