no the car will not start timing has to be set again
If the timing chain or belt jumped time one tooth or notch it would lose most of it's power. If it jumped two teeth or notches it wouldn't have the power to move at all.
To fix the Pontiac Sunfire if it jumped time, the timing belt has to be replaced. Then the car has to have the timing set again after the belt is replaced.
Sounds like the timing is out of adjustment, perhaps timing chain has jumped
If it jumped a tooth, your car would be running very rough. You would not have much for acceleration, and your gas mileage will drop dramatically. If your timing belt is broken, your car will not run at all.
Don't know what vehicle you are talking about but with most vehicles if the timing chain jumped you won't get out of your driveway. With the timing cover off, most chains and gears have marks stamped into them that should line up when the number 1 piston is at Top Dead Center.
I the Blazer will run then the timing can be checked with a timing light. If not, the there are timing marks on the timing gears that will have to be checked to see if the timing jumped.
May have snapped/jumped the timing chain.
If the timing chain has jumped time, the vehicle will run rough or not at all. You will need to check the time with a timing light to see if it is off.
A Galant has timing belts, normally the belts break if they have not been serviced. As for as jumping time they belt may stretch causing it to run bad or not to run at all. Pull the cover off of the timing belt and check the timing using the timing marks. If they are off your car is out of time.
Yes it is. I know this by experience. Timing jumped and bent the valves
out of time timing chain or belt jumped or broken keyway for gears
