I recommend getting a cheap multimeter. With the car running put the leads on the battery terminals ( with the meter set on 20 DC volts) and check the voltage. If you have 14-16 volts your alternator is working. If you have 12 or less volts your alternator is not working. This procedure requires you to have the car running so you might need a boost to try it.
Also check the voltage at the battery with the engine not running. You should read 12.6 volts on a fully charged battery. 12.4 and it is 75% charged. 12.2 volts and it is 50%. 12.0 volts and it is 25% charged. If you find the battery is too low, then put it on a charger and see if it will take a charge. If it will not, the battery is defective.
It can be a bad starter, but it can be a corroded battery cable. If you know the battery and cables are good, remove the starter and have it tested at most auto parts stores. It can be a bad starter, but it can be a corroded battery cable. bad starter or bad connection to starter or bad ground on battery or starter
Could be the battery is drained or bad. Could be battery connections at battery and or starter are dirty and or loose. Could be starter solenoid is bad. Could be starter is bad.
Your starter is incapable of being drained. It is an electric motor. However a bad starter can drain your battery
My suggestion is to make sure that you have a good connection between your starter and your battery. Is the starter even functioning? If not, it is probably a bad starter, a bad battery, a bad fusible link for the starter, a blown fuse, or just a bad connection. The starter could be bad. Or the battery. The starter could be bad. Or the battery.
If the starter is bad no. Check battery, starter and solenoid to be sure which is bad.
One indication that the starter is going bad in your vehicle is if the vehicle won't start but the battery is full of life. When the starter is the reason, a very audible click will be heard.
dead battery bad starter solenoid bad starter loose or corroded battery or starter cables
Dead battery? Bad starter? Bad/dirty connections on battery cables? If you know the battery is good, you have to listen when the key is turned. if there is an audible "click" when you turn the key its mostlikely the starter.
Could be,low battery, loose or dirty battery connections, starter is bad, starter solenoid is bad, neutral safety switch bad or out of adjustment, starter relay is bad,
