It is an OBD-I system so if you don't already have the code reader, get it at Wal-Mart, or any automotive store (generic ones for GM can be had for between $20-$30). Then online resources such as www.v6fbody.com or camarosource have big tech sections where you can possibly find the code breakdown. If not on those sites, just search in a search engine for camaro engine codes and it shouldn't be hard to find for that car.

^^^^^ OBD-1 is expensive and hard to come by Autozone/Advanced don't have them...a lot of shops don't have them. A Easy and FREE way to check is to take off your Fuse box cover located under your driver side Dash.. you will see your ECU plugs...there are 2 rows a top and bottom... take a piece of wire or paperclip and jump to far right TOP 2 terminals together (top row, far right, last 2) then turn your key on to the accessories position. You will see code 12 flash on the dash 3x like this....flash...pause....flash,flash =12. then after that count the numbers for whatever code thereafter.... each code will flash 3x. code 12 means its working it will also finish with code 12 to show no more codes. sometimes if you are having ignition problems your SES light will appear and you scan codes and only get a code 12 its something bad in your distributor that's not storing the code to you ECU ...just a (FYI)

Disconnect the battery for 15 minutes. It will clear the codes but will not solve the problem. Best thing is to have the codes read to find a solution.
