It hooks into the ignition switch at the bottom and the ignition lock switch at the top.

i broke the key off in the ignition. got it out and got a new key. now when i try to hook up battery it trys to start even with the run switch off.
You can buy an adapter that hooks up to the speaker outputs and generates a true turn on lead or you can hook it up to ignition (pink) at the key switch if you want to save money.
run wire from red power wire on stereo to fuse panel .crimp blade terminal on the wire and slide it into one of the ignition (ign) slots

NO, there is no coalition between the ignition switch and the transmission. The ignition switch does 2 things. Turns on power to the electrical system for the engine and supplies power to the starter during start-up.

Remove the ignition switch retaining ring. Pull the ignition switch out. Remove the wiring harness from the back of the ignition switch. Reverse the process to install the new ignition switch.
