First off what year is the car? Second, have you seen the transmission dipst, and if so is it removeable? It may be sea;ed and that requires the dealership to service. The last thing is it does have the dipstick you need a machine to flush it, but you can pull the transmission pan of and drain it. It usually sets next to the oil pan and looks very similar, but sould not have a drain plug on it for a Ford. You will need a new transmission pan gasket and should eplace the screen also, since its already out at that point.
You need the machine that pumps new transmission fluid in and the old transmission fluid out like a shop or Ford dealer has
YOU DONT
Mercron v auto transmission fluid
transmission fluid level and what brand should I use in it
The power steering fluid for it is actually the transmission fluid. It should be Mercron. Is this suposed to go in the power steering chamber or the transmission chamber to work. The fluid in my 2006 Ford Escape XLT steering fluid tank is black.
According to the 2002 Ford Escape owners manual ( Motorcraft MERCON automatic transmission fluid ) is used as the power steering fluid
What model year of Ford Escape , automatic or manual transmission A little more information please
You add fluid at the exact same place you check the fluid level.
24 quarts for a full flush
The manual transaxle ( transmission ) on your Ford Escape does not have a fluid level dipstick like the automatic would normally have ( it is probably checked at the FILL PLUG on your transmission , underneath the vehicle )
To change the Ford Escape power steering fluid, drain any fluid from the reservoir by pulling out the stopper. One can flush the old fluid out of the system. Replace the stopper and add the amount of fluid recommended by the owners' manual.
You can view the 2002 Ford Escape owners manual online at : www . motorcraft service . com ( no spaces ) Click on Owner Guides It shows what fluid to use in the automatic or manual transmission etc.
