Sounds like you have a 'ground leak' somewhere. Very difficult to find. One day soon when you have time, trace this with a voltmeter between the pos. terminal and the wire ( ie, undo the pos. connector and fit meter there) Now remove each fuse in turn and when the meter goes to '0' you have the circuit the leak is in. Till then undo your pos. terminal each time you leave the car, and reconnect each time you want to drive.
Can also be caused by a dead cell in the battery which will require a battery replacement. Disconnect the negative battery cable and let it sit overnight. If the battery is dead in the morning it has a dead cell. Can also be caused by any light on the vehicle that is staying on pulling power from the battery. Also any relay that is stuck will drain the battery.
If the battery is defective there's no way to fix the battery must just replace the battery.

Test/replace the voltage regulator. The year, make and model info would help.
