If you're talking about the brake light staying on, it may be either the small plastic button that pushes on the brake light switch on the brake pedal, or the brake light switch itself.
If you're talking about taillights only, it may possibly be the light switch on the steering column that has gone bad and needs replacing.

Came up to a stop light and when the light changed the car would not move.
In order to fix a tail light in a Kia Rio Cinco you must first locate the tail light. Then, undo the tail light and replace it with the new materials and put the cover back on.
check the bulb, it has two filaments, one for tail light, another for brake light and indicator. if the turn signal works, it's not the bulb, but a power supply problem.

The reason why the door ajar light stays on in a 1999 Nissan Altima could be due to the door switch being stuck. It is stated to spray WD-40 into the latch and that should fix the problem.
sometimes a temporary fix is just reading the codes from obd (obd II), and removing this. Permanent fix is to get the control box and or PS motor replaced. for the first fix you are looking for auto electrician who has a obd II diagnostic reader. I am surprised that Nissan has got away with this one
Open the trunk. Access to the tail lights is from there.
Answertake it to the dealer...It depends on the reason the light is on. Did you have a connector for the airbag system disconnected and then turn the ignition on or did the light come on on its own while driving? I think there is a very simple reset for this, but if you have a problem you will not fix it by doing it.
Assuming you mean traction light, have the codes pulled. The codes will lead you to the cause.
This is because the tail light bulb has a different element in the bulb. Just replace the bulb and that will fix the problem.
