The washer pump is located at the bottom of the winshield washer resevoir. There are 2 pumps...one for the front and one on the back. All you need to do is remove the wire assembly from the pump and it pulls out of the resevoir. It will take some muscle to get it out because of the press fit washer. Be careful of washer fluid coming out once you remove the pump. Good Luck
The number of towels that can fit in a washer depends on the washer and the towels going in it. The smaller the washer the less towels that can fit.
I've just changed the windscreen washer pump on my 04 VW Polo. The screen washers were not working and I checked the fuse which was OK. So next I went to the pump and removed it. I tested it by wiring it to a 12 Volt battery and no function, so it needed replacing. It's a fairly easy job. The windscreen washer bottle is tucked away in front of the front wheel arch. Turn the steering hard right. This enables access to unscrew the plastic moulding in the front of the wheelarch. Unscrew the four screws in the front of the wheelarch and two which are right underneath the car. Although they are star shaped screw heads a flat screwdriver will work. Then, prise the moulding towards the wheel and use something to wedge it open. You can now see the pump positioned on the side of the washer bottle. Use a long screwdriver to prise the pump up. Disconnect the pipes and electrical plug. In the hole where the pump penetrates the washer bottle there is a black grommet. Take this out. When you fit the new pump in, push the grommet onto the inlet spout of the pump then put the pump into the bottle. Do not put the grommet into the hole in the bottle then push the pump into it as you will push the grommet into the bottle and lose it as I did! If you do need a new grommet, VW main dealers have them for around 50p. I found a new pump at my local car parts supplier for just over £13. They are kicking around on Ebay cheaper. There seem to be two options - one has the two electrical connection terminals in line and the other the terminals are at right angles. Be sure to get the right one. The pump needs to be pressed well into the bottle to seal. Once fitted and tested for function and leaks, you can re-fit the plastic moulding in the wheelarch.
Yes!
If a windscreen is obtained second hand, it may need to be trimmed to fit your car. Then you must remove the plastic mouldings from the edges of the windscreen. Then the windscreen is primed for the caulking and placed in the car. It is best to use gloves during this process.
