To reset an alarm on a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500, disconnect the battery cable for 10 minutes. Users can also disable the alarm by inserting the key into the door.
remove the fuel pump relay from the fuse box under the hood
check speedometer cable for possible disconnection; it comes out of firewall and goes to transmission
As nearly as I've been able to tell, you must either use the Smart Key or the keyfob to disable the alarm. Other than that, you can see if the dealer can disable it permanently.
There is no mechanical odometer in these vehicles that can be disconnected. Odometer output is driven by the computer based on information from sensors on the transmission and pre-programmed information about axle ratios, tire sizes, etc. Trying to disable this will make your vehicle not work properly, if at all.
