The bulbs are actually soldered into the circuit board. The only way to change them is to dismantle the whole cluster and desolder then re-solder the bulbs.
They mount to the back of the dash cluster. The bulbs are exposed when the panel is removed.
Changing the instrument panel lights require removal of the dashboard. With the dashboard removed pull the gauge cluster out and take off the bulbs. Install the new bulbs.
remove the trim panel around the instrument cluster then remove cluster. On the back of instrument cluster are the bulbs just turn them half a turn and they come right out.
to change the lights you remove the dash cluster and replace the bulbs. the number for the bulbs are 197
Age. If it is the bulb in the instrument cluster change all the bulbs at the same time.
Remove the dash cluster to gain access to the back of the cluster to change the bulbs.
take old one out, insert new one in after you remove the dash cluster.
Put a flat head screwdriver behind the indicator cluster and prize it out. Then just twist out the bulb.
What year is your car? On my 93, I just removed the 2 screws from the trim around the instrument cluster and pulled it out. Then I removed the four screws holding the instrument cluster and unplugged the three wire connectors and removed the cluster. Now you can remove the bulbs and maybe you can find colored bulbs at one of your local autoparts stores. The only way I know to change the color is to find bulbs in the color you desire. Either that or find some red plastic and put it inside the housing over the guages. Good luck with that project.
