Depends on what year the car is. 76-78 models (1bbl) have an adjustment on the lower front of the carb. 79-80 models have a knockout plug on the lower-left base plate that can be adjusted and 81-87 are computer controlled via the electrical plug on the top of the unit. 81-87 also have the same knockout plate in the base plate as the 79-80's but it won't affect much.
A 2006 Dodge does not have a carburetor, and there are no adjustments. If it running too rich you have a computer, sensor, wiring issue. If the carburetor has an adjustment screw for the lean/richness you can adjust it there. If the air cleaner is dirty or clogged replacing it might take care of the problem. If not, you will probably have to rebuild the carburetor.
First, you will want to be sure that it isn't flooding. Be sure that the automatic choke is working properly. Set the timing to factory specifications. Then you can only adjust the idle fuel air mixture. If it continues to run rich then the carburetor is most likely the fault.
Running too rich, timing off. Search your engine and "backfire"
Yes
If the fuel is running too rich in a car, it would be a good idea to adjust the EFI or Electronic Fuel Injector (carburetor). It would also be a good idea to make sure that all of the air cleaners and oxygen sensors are clean and functioning properly.
You may need to adjust the carburetor. It sounds like it's running too rich.
Adjust or rebuild carb.
How does it run? If it is running rich or lean then the carburetor could be the culprit. If it is original from 1986 I would bet it needs a rebuild.
Running rich, check your jets, (carburetor) make sure your float is free.
Doesn't sound like carb. If it were running rich you would be getting black smoke Check coolant level and oil -- sounds more like head gasket
You can purchase a kit from the manufacturer that gives you extra jets and metering rods.
