Ford V-8 engines do not have timing belts.
That engine doesn't use a timing belt.
ford doesnt put timing marks on anything. u need a special cam gear alignment tool
There is no such thing as a 1995 Ford Escape!
well first you need to get the timing close enough to crank then put a timing light on it and bring timing to top dead center.. which is the second mark on the timing chain cover.. there will be a mark on the harmonic balancer line that mark up with the second mark on the gauge on the timing chain cover.. and should be fine
Align the timing marks on the camshaft gears to the notches on the camshaft cover, using the intake gear mark for the intake gear and the exhaust gear mark for the exhaust gear. 38. Align the mark on the crankshaft gear with the notch at the bottom of the rear timing belt cover.
some one put the wrong balancer on the crank. or put it on inside out...
if on a 98 f 150 v8 5.4 , if you put the 1st link on mark in stead of in center of 2 marks and the sproket looks at 12 and or 11 will it be out of timming
check your timing
pull your timing belt cover/#1 plug/closest to the cover/ adj so piston 1 is at tdc crank timing mark should be in between pointer/ adj cam gear 1 mark at top with valve cover on 1 mark at right with top of block looks like L shape /put on belt and tighten tensioner/rotate dist to #1 caution dont hit pistons with valves when adj crank or cam for aligning timing marks good luck,
the only way to determine where tdc is to do the timing is to put a dial indicator on top of number 1 piston, can be done with the head on depending on what engine it is
