I don't know where to tell, but replacement alternators range from 100-140 amps for that model year.
On the top & to the right of the alternator you will find some numbers look for 3 numbers followed by an A which stands for Amps such as 105 A. The numbers are usually hard to see, you can take a piece of white chalk & rub over them to get them to show up better.
Look at the back of the alternator, particularly the black plastic cover on the back. The black plastic cover on a 105 amp alternator will have a small opening divided into three parts. The 130 amp alternator will have multiple openings.
If you look at it real close. You will see it stamped into the alternator.
Depending on your equipment you either have a 90 amp or a 95 amp alternator according to www.motorcraft.com . There are two 95 amp alternators listed and one 90 amp
Look it up on the one installed
The amp rating for the alternator is printed or stamped on the exterior of the alternator case. It is the numerical ampere rating followed by the letter 'A', ie, '100A' would represent a 100 ampere rated alternator.
Well, if the alternator is on any type of vehicle that has been made within the last 100 years, it will be the 100 amp alternator. There is no such thing as a 1900 amp alternator for a car. The highest I have seen is about 150 amps, and that is a heavy-duty truck alternator.
Well I have a 1996 Ford Explorer V8 All wheel drive Eddie Bauer edition and mine has a 130 amp alt. You can always call ford and ask too.
Not sure on the 1996, but probably behind the glove compartment, or under the center console. Depends on which sound system came installed.
I believe that is a 95 amp alternator on the XLT
I believe that is a 95 amp alternator on the XLT ( 130 amp on the Limited )
Thanks
yes you will get more amp cranks out of it and for dodge ram wont do anything bad but good for your truck
