chain usually
yes it has a cambelt, and should be changed every 60,000mls. 4/27/2011 - answer 2005 models and earlier had a timing belt. 2006 models and newer have a timing chain.
The TDCi uses a chain not belt Not always! On the Mk 4 TDCi 140 is fitted a Peugeot engine called Duratorq, and being peugeot, has a BELT, I believe part belt part chain drive actually. This applies to all the Mk 4 Duratorqs, 1.8, 2.0 maybe 2.2 as well Apart from early auto cars, when the change is at 65,000 miles, others are scheduled at 125,000. Seems a lot, had mine done at 105,000, cost with full kit and water pump(i think) is around £300.
just been chating to a bloke around the corner he has a mark 1 mondeo and changed his bumper.Taking it of if fiddley 4 bolts at the bottom and screws at the side. You might have to drop your exhaust a bit to get at bolt

I would suspect you need a new timing chain or belt depending on which is installed. A worn belt or chain will jump time.
If the engine has a timing belt, it should be changed around the 150K mark. If there is a timing chain, it does not have to be changed unless it is damaged.
Resistor pack
my Toyota rav engine has cut out i have a feeling it could be the cam belt the vehicle is a 1998 with a 2litre engine installed. Please can you confirm if cambelt failure inpact on the engine or is it a matter of replacing the cambelt and re-timing the engine. Kindness Regards Graham Young
