Press the button to unhinge your key and flip it open. Look where the key lies flat when closed, and there is a small tab. Push this tab in and the end assembly with the key assembly will slide out.
The battery is in the half with the buttons, not with your key. Split the half without the key open with a regular flathead screwdriver. The button battery is on the bottom half without the buttons. It takes one Duracell dl1620 battery (or generic equivalent, available at Radio Shack, is CR 1620). The replacement takes about 10 seconds once you have the fob open.
Be very careful pushing in the small tab, it is delicate and inclined to break.

The fob must be gently pried apart, the electronics unit removed, the battery replaced, the electronics unit reinstalled, and the fob snapped back together. Your owner's manual should tell you how, if not ask your dealer.
Using a screwdriver, gently prise open the end of the key fob. Open the battery door and remove the battery. Now you can replace it. It can be quite tricky, so be gentle and make sure it snaps shut properly when you are done.
To change the battery, just take a coin and insert it in the whole at the bottom of the key fob, twist it and it will pop apart. Battery is right inside.
