which one if its the two side brake lights you open the boot undo the two torx screws on the side of the light cluster then inside the boot under the parcel shelf level there is a plastic wing nut to undo then you gentle pull the light cluster out it will be stiff as it sits in two grommets then remove multiplug unscrew the screws holding the backing in place then unclip the clips replace the bulb then refit
if it is the centre high level brake light you again with the boot open look up and see two black grommets remove these and push a flat blade screw driver in them and push this will unclip the light from the car and change the bulb.
bulb # for brake light on your explorer is a 3157 backup light bulb # is 3156 hope this helps

There are two types of brake systems on that year Chevy celebrity. Light duty and Heavy duty. the easiest way to tell them apart is the type of brake pads. The heavy duty brakes have a "butterfly" style retaining clip out the outboard pad that looks like wings when its not intalled. The light duty brakes have an outside pad that has tabs that must be tighened onto the caliper.
