NO. Drive belts drive the AC, Power Steering, Alternator, Waterpump, exe. Cam belt=timing belt.
Yes. The ac belt only runs the ac and it will not hurt to run with out it.
Yes
The squeal when you turn on the AC or heater is a loose fan belt. It may be cracked and need replaced, or it may just need tightened.
yes it can, if the compresser locks up the belt can be destroyed.
Just as long as it does not break. Could be 1 mile or 1,000 miles. Replace the belt ASAP.
Begin by loosening the tensioner pulley. Take the old air conditioning drive belt on. Put the new air conditioning drive belt on and tighten the tensioner pulley.
I believe the only thing that belt was driving is the AC compressor. Check to make sure that the belt wasn't turning anything else. If all it was driving was the compressor, and you don't need to use the ac, you can drive your car without that belt.
it has its own belt. it looks like a serp belt but it isnt. its just a ribbed belt.
Check the serpentine belt for cracking and "checking" by a close visual examination. Look at the "inside" of the belt where it rides on the pulleys. The grooves should not be cracked, or missing ridges on the inside of the belt. Also, check the idler/tensioner pulley bearing for noise/wear. I changed mine when I replaced the spur ( timing ) drive belt and tensioner/idler pulley/shock absorber at 100,000mi. I also replaced the AC compressor drive belt and idler/tensioner pulley at that time.
You can drive any car without the a/c belt as long as that belt doesnt route thru the altenator, or the power steering (if you dont care about having to crank the wheel to turn)
