You may get splashed with hot oil and get burned if you add oil with the car running, why don't you just turn the car off and add it??
no you check your oil with car off easier when car is cooled off
Try hosing it down - and scrubbing - with hot soapy water.
the motor gets lubricated.
The engine dipstick is the only tool you can use to measure how much oil is in the engine.
Check the oil after the engine has not been run for at least 30 minutes.
For an accurate reading, after the car has been sitting level and cooled off, open the hood, locate and remove the engine oil dipstick (should be on the drivers side of engine). The dipstick will be marked where the full line and add line is. The engine oil level should be anywhere between the full and add mark. Add one quart of motor oil to the engine if level is at or below the add mark.
One of the ways to reduce friction in a car engine is to add an oil lubricant. The oil lubricant can be mineral or synthetic but they help the engine parts to move without too much ware. Another way would be to add an engine oil cooler.
the engine will run hot and eventually it will blow on younot true.. if you have no oil in your engine it will not last long enough to overheat... the force of the pistons moving will cause so much friction, add that to the lack of lubrication and your engine will seize up and never work again...
For 4 cylinder engine. The oil fill cap is located on the right side (facing the car). It is clearly marked engine oil.
Friction produces heat. Oil lubricates the engine and reduces friction thus reducing heat.
