How flammable is diesel mixed with gasoline?

Diesel fuel itself will burn but you really can't call it flammable. When you add gasoline to it, the flammability greatly increases with the amount of gasoline you add.

Can you mix diesel with regular gas?

In a gasoline engine, definitely not. There are times when it is not inappropriate to add small amounts of gasoline to diesel for a diesel engine.

What do you when diesel freezes?

diesel heater, if its not gelled completely, add a small amount of alcohol to un gell it, also, you can get winter diesel or diesel additive to keep it liquified

How long will diesel car run on petrol?

It won't, even a mixture of gasoline and diesel will not work. May I add that running petrol in a diesel will destroy that diesel engine.

How much gasoline can be added to a diesel auto's fuel tank without causing problems. I've heard the ratio can be as high as 70 percent diesel and 30 percent gasoline?

Incorrect on both accounts. The distillates in diesel are different than gasoline, in that they have different ignition points and cetane ratings. Because of this, adding gasoline to diesel will inhibit the ignition in the diesel engine, just as adding diesel to a gasoline engine will cause the fuel to ignite too quickly. In general, never mix the two. You can add diesel-specific additives to diesel, but gasoline is never recommended. More info: http://www.turbodieselregister.com/mixing_gasoline_and_diesel.htm

Starting a diesel engine not started for months?

How do you fix a diesel truck that has regular gasoline in it?

Drain out all of the gas, change fuel filter, add diesel, prime system, cross fingers, start, and hope for no other problems

What causes 1997 Geo Prizm to diesel?

cheap gasoline, try a higher octane gas or add an octane booster to your tank

Can you put diesel oil in a petrol car?

NO!!! It's not the same kind of engine. A diesel engine has glow plugs, a gasoline engine has spark plugs. A diesel engine ignite the fuel by compression, the gasoline engine ignite it with spark plugs. Some people add a SMALL amount of gasoline to their diesel fuel in the winter when the temperature falls below -20 deg celsius (5 deg below zero F), to prevent the diesel from turning waxy.

Can you add oil if you put gas in a diesel engine?

Putting gas in a diesel engine will not be fixed by adding oil. The fuel needs to be drained or pumped out if the mixture is too high. If only a few liters of gasoline were put into a tank of diesel, adding a diesel fuel conditioner could help. Gasoline will damage diesel fuel pumps and injectors because it does not have the lubricating properties of diesel. The fuel pump and injectors need lubrication from the diesel fuel or they will seize up and be destroyed.

What damage is caused by petrol in diesel engines?

Serious damage. Any diesel mechanic, would recommend draining the entire fuel system and re-filling it with pure diesel. I do know some guys that add a gallon or two of gasoline to their diesel trucks, meaning big rig semi's, in the winter for easier starting, however their truck's fuel tanks have a 50 gallon capacity. Diesel is a lubricant as well as a fuel. Running gasoline, or a high mixture of gasoline WILL cause SERIOUS damage to a diesel engine, so remove all the gas immediately.

What happens if you put diesel fuel in someone gas tank?

Their car either wont start or will shut off the the diesel gets to the engine. no damage. they'll just have to drain all the diesel out. If you're talking about putting, say, 1 gal of diesel into a gasoline tank that has 5 gals or more of gasoline the performance of the engine will be reduced. If this was the case (mistakenly put a small amount of diesel in a gasoline vehicle) I've simply fill the gas tank with gasoline and had no other problems; I was a gasoline retailer for many years so I'm talking many dozens of mistaken 'self-serves' that were non-events. Of course, if the gas tank that diesel was installed was near empty and someone put 5 gals of diesel into that tank it is best to drain that diesel before refilling with the proper fuel. Hope this helps. AND I would like to add this does NOT have any validity if one has put 1 gallon of gasoline in a DIESEL vehicle...If you added gasoline I strongly suggest you drain ALL of that mix out of that DIESEL powered vehicle immediately. DO NOT THINK of starting it.
