The way the question is phrased implies that the real question is, "Can a supercharger be fitted ON a carburetor, rather than UNDERNEATH it." It depends on the design of the supercharger. Most superchargers (Rootes-type, etc) pull fuel-air mixture through the carbs or fuel injection, compress it and force it into the engine. But older designs like the Paxton compressed the air and blew it through the carburetor. Sometimes the entire carb would be surrounded in a housing to equalize pressure both inside and outside the carb. Naturally the fuel pressure would also have to be increased to compensate for the pressure differential. Carrol Shelby built two Cobra Super Snakes with twin Paxton-supercharged 427 engines making 800 hp. you can read about it at http://www.topspeed.com/cars/shelby/1967-shelby-cobra-427-super-snake-ar25745.html.
no
You can get a diagram for a 1922 Atco carburetor as fitted to a Villiers V1C in a book of old diagrams. Or you can even check out the owners manual too.
Yes. But ew, go get a supercharger. Turbos are for ricers. Word of caution, it will kill your engine way faster.
It probably won't work effectively/efficiently unless it is re-jetted.
The M111.974 engine fitted to the 2003 R170 Mercedes-Benz SLK230 uses the Eaton M45 Roots-type supercharger.
Used prior to the introduction of fuel injection to mix the fuel & air at the proper mix for an internal combustion engine.
Assuming you mean "Carburetor Hypercharger", it's a poor mans bolt on supercharger. It accomplishes the exact same thing as a stock air cleaner but it has slightly better air flow.
Theoretically any combustion engine can be fitted with a supercharger, but don't expect it to be an easy, bolt-on job. Carb, intake manifolds and drive pulleys would have to be heavily modified. If it's an EFI engine you won't have the carb to worry about, but would instead have to have the engine control remapped.
Blower Bentleys were very fast racing cars in the 1920's and 1930's. They were fitted with a blower, or supercharger. This device drove extra fuel into the engine to make the car super-quick.
Supercharger - comics - was created in 1997.
The C230 Kompressor already has a supercharger on it from the factory. The word Kompressor means Supercharger.
The most common and normal signs will be: * Oil leakage from the supercharger * Supercharger making a knocking noise * Lower or no boost pressure * Oil not present inside the supercharger
