If the wheels turns to the right by itself with the engine running the steering gear or rack and pinion has failed.
might be your power steering or something in that nature
---- I am having trouble steering to the right on right turns, It is really hard to turn to the right. Do you have any idea as to what this could be?
i had the same problem your power stering pump is going
Holey buckets! No right turns when its cold huh? Im thinking water in your power steering lines has turned to ice and will not move until thawed. Try changing the power steering fluid completely before any other remedies. Not ice problem. It happens at temps well above freezing. To get it to turn, I turn wheel and hold pressure for 15 ~ 30 seconds and then it is OK until car sits for 1/2 hour or more.
Power steering is not electrical. It is driven by an engine belt that turns a hydraulic pump.
follow the belt back to the device it turns. If it has a cap for checking fluid levels, then it is probably the power steering pump and you have found the right belt.

I 've noticed that sometimes my key for my car does the same thing, I usually turn the steering wheel left to right and so on til my key turns:)
check the fluid level in the power steering reservoir and make sure it's where it should be.
This allows you to have some freedom in your steering. You can make some changes and even sharp turns if necessary.
If you put water in your power steering reservoir you could damage the gears in your power steering gear box. Don't drive the vehicle until you drain the reservoir, pump and gear box of your power steering system and replace with the proper fluid. You will need to bleed the system as well. This is done by filling with fluid while a friend turns the steering wheel with the engine running 20 times all the way to the left and the right.
