If necessary, turn the ignition switch ON and the wipers ON then OFF to bring them to the park position. Hold the wiper arm against the torque and loosen the nut which attaches the arm to the linkage shaft with a socketwrench ,remove the nut. Remove the arm and line it up with the lower end of the windshield then put it on the spines till they engage Install the nut. Then do the other wiper the same. Test to see they are working ok. Good Luck
first remove wiper arms from vehicle next with ignition on, turn wipers on then off. the wiper motor will stop at the down position. replace wiper arms onto shaft ,in the correct down position where you want them. now with ignition on, try wipers again,to check if in the stop position you want them.
The "park" switch inside the wiper motor assembly has failed.
the module is bad on the wipper motor you might have to get the whole moter assy.
wiper motor bout worn out. my 1998 merc does the same. replace ya wiper motor.
bad parking relay in motor
I would suspect the wiper switch is defective. Replace it. Salvage yard is a good source for this part. In the interim, pull the fuse to stop the wipers when they are in the down position.
you will need to replace the wiper motor. there is a SET OF CONTACTS IN THE ASSEMBLY THAT STAYS TOGETHER TIL IN THE STORE POSITION[BOTTOM OF WINDSHIELD]. THIS IS EITHER BROKEN OR BURNT OFF, THUS DISABLING BOTH ACTIONS
I had this problem, get a second hand motor off ebay, it seems to be the problem with these cars
Windshield wipers are an important safety feature on cars. They stop working when their motor goes out, or when the blade is too worn out.
There is a way to reset the "breakaway swicth" on newer GM wiper motors Go to a qualified GM dealer mechanic and pay. Then stop trying to wipe ice, froxen wipers, and too much snow with your wipers. Use a brush first!
Could be the "Torque Converter Lock-up" Solenoid sticking in the lock position.
1. Turn on the rear windshield wipers. 2. Stop the wiper manually as it crosses the center of the window. 3. Lift the wiper blade up on the hinge as you would a front blade (this should de-activate the wiper mechanism and stop movement). 4. Change wiper blade. 5. Return blade to original position in which it was stopped. 6. Turn the wipers off then on.
