I would check the level of coolant in the tank with the radiator cap. The level might be low enough to trigger the light but still provide enough to cool the engine. Just remember to do it when the motor is COOL/COLD. This tank IS pressurized and you will be taking a bath in hot coolant if you don't. It is also possible that the sensor is goin bad, in which case just make sure the level is up to where it need to be.

You may have a faulty coolant level sensor
You can reset the 2001 Buick Century low coolant warning light by removing the fuse. Keep the fuse out for 10 seconds, then replace it to its original spot.
You coolant level sensor has stopped working, my 93 olds regency is doing the same thing. You will need to goto the a Buick/GM dealership to get the part, it plugs into the side of the radiator.

Either the coolant reservoir is low on coolant or the coolant level sensor is NG.
The 2001 Buick Century brake light switch is located beneath the dashboard, on the drivers side. The brake light switch should be labeled as such.
I added coolant and after 9 hours and two 25 mile trips the light turned off.
When the trac light is off, on a Buick Century, the traction control monitoring system is disengaged. It is recommended to have the trac system engaged on wet roads.
