Anne Frank was a young Jewish girl who was in hiding in a small home, the Annex, for many years. She and her family hid because Adolf Hitler's soldiers, the Nazis, conquered German and captured Jews to either slaughter or place in "labor-camps" where they were tortured and starved. Most, including Ms. Frank, died in these camps. The only member of the Frank family that survived was Anne's father, Otto Frank. Many years after this time (the Holocaust), Mr. Frank found Anne's diary she had written during her hiding. He knew Anne would want the world to know about how horrible that time was, so Otto had the diary published. Anne Frank's Diary is now a classic war literature, read all over the world and is the most well known Halocaust diary.
