Being an author can be a well-paid career for some, especially for those who write best-selling books or have a strong following. However, many authors struggle to make a living solely from writing. Aircraft maintenance is an excellent and well paid career.
it depends on how good an author you are, at the start you will probably have to spend ages finding someone who will publish your book, then how much you are going to sell your book for and how much of the profits you will get, the shop will get etc... so it really depends on how good at writing books you are and how much you sell them the book / books for.
