Why does everybody overlook this when making accusations and pointing fingers? Yes she suffered a terrible lost, but the old soul brought it on herself.
1) She is the parent of a 'too friendly' teenage girl.

3) Martha is GROUNDED because Dorthy stayed up and caught the girl in the act of sneaking in - just a week before she was killed.
Having a hard headed, sneaky young girl to raise gives the mother added responsibilities to set and reinforce the house rules. "Spare the rod ; spoil the child" In those days, teenage pregnancy was the #1 worry - now its many other acts youngsters get into that can end their lives.
