Rear projection TVs are powered by a high-luminosity lamp. This lamp shines light through an LCD screen, creating an image on a rear-projection TV screen. Many TV lamps have a limited lifespan, requiring replacement after several thousand hours of use.

When replacing a TV lamp, find the model that works for a certain TV brand. After purchase, locate the access panel on the back of the TV. Remove the old lamp, and clear the area of all dust. A great way to clear dust is with a vacuum cleaner or compressed air. Install the new lamp, and replace the TV panel.
