The easiest option to convert vhs tapes to DVD is to use a video transfer service.

Google: 'VHS to DVD" "VCR to DVD" or "convert vhs to dvd" and you will see lots of different options.

One of the services I would recommend is StashSpace.Com it costs $6.95 per tape and you have the option to watch and edit your digitized footage online.

i have alot of VHS tapes. i want to convert them 2 DVD, but cant coz of the following reasons:

havent got a vhs player dont know how to do this on my own costs money will take time depending on the duration of the VHS. my VHS tapes are 3 hours long on each tape - so altogether that might take 4 hours to save it to dvd. - A LONG TIME however the good thing is DVD's lasts long, its light, can be played on pc's, dvds. and also, vhs tapes dont last long, soon theyll be obsolete.

The only problem with sending your VHS tapes to a service is that random people will be watching your tapes.

The best way to convery VHS to DVD is to buy a USb grabber, you can buy these anywhere, just google VHS to DVD converter.

When you have the hardware, just use the software which came with your USB grabber and it will allow you transfer VHS to DVD.

(1) VCR/VHS to DVD Conversion Service - the easiest option that involves the least hassle, but this can get expensive if you have plenty of tapes to convert.

(2) Using a standalone DVD recorder - uses a DVD recorder designed to record to DVD without a computer. It will record from analog to digital sources like VCR/VHS players, older cameras, cable TV, camcorders and DVD

A DVD recorder is unable to convert copyrighted films. You also have lesser flexibilities when it comes to menus, buttons and chapter settings, but it is the fastest way to convert VCR to DVD. If you can get a Firewire connection between your DVD recorder and source device then you could convert the tape to DVD at even higher quality than using analog connections.

There are several good methods to transfer old VHS to DVD. You can put the VHS video onto a computer video editing program and make a DVD from there. You can also connect the VHS to a stand alone DVD recorder and transfer from there.

There are a few ways to copy a VHS to a DVD. One way is to connect a VCR to a computer. Next, one would copy the VHS to the computer hard-drive and then burn it onto a DVD with a DVD burning software on the computer. Other ways include connecting a VCR to a DVD recorder or using a VCR/DVD combo unit to record the VHS tape to the DVD.

Can you copy your old video recordings to DVD with a digital recorder?

Commercial DVD's are not burned they are pressed from a master in huge numbers. That is why you cannot duplicate a commercial DVD to a DVD-R for example. You can burn from a DVR to a DVD but you won't be sble to do it digitally if there is copy protection. For example if you record a program from cable and it is copy protected, you are only able to put on digital media (Recorder or DVD) once. The next transfer will be blocked if there is copy protection in the program. About half the programs have this protection now.
