On February 20, 1962, NASA astronaut John Glenn flew the Friendship 7 mission becoming the third American in space and the first American to orbit the Earth circling the earth three times. John Glenn served as the U.S. Senator from Ohio December 24, 1974 - January 3, 1999. He died in Columbus, Ohio on December 8, 2016 at age 95. He is buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
