Because the Moon has mass, a LOT of mass.

If something has mass, it will have gravitational attraction. The more mass, the greater the attraction. The moon has ~1/6th the gravity as the Earth.

The statement that astronauts on the Moon are weightless is true.

Is the moon weightless?

The moon is weightless, because the centrifical force of its rotation is counter acting on gravity. If both forces are exactly the same, they cancel out each other. The moon would have weight if it was close enough to fall, but otherwise no.

How could you overcome weightlessness on the moon?

By learning enough basic physics to know that objects on the Moon are not, in fact, weightless.

Why does a man feel weightless on the moon?

They don't. The moon has gravity but not as much as earth so they feel that they have less weight. In outer space a person would feel weightless because no gravity that they could notice is acting upon them.

Why doesn't the moon fall down?

because it is in space and every thing in space is weightless.

When are you considered to be weightless but still have the mass?

when your on the moon, or anywhere that has less gravity than earth.

Do golf balls become weightless on the moon?

no, a golf ball would weigh about 1/6 what it weighs on earth.

Are astronauts on the moon weightless?

No, astronauts on the moon are not weightless. They have weight due to the moon's gravitational pull, which is about 1/6th of Earth's gravity. This means they experience a lesser force of gravity compared to Earth, allowing them to move more easily on the lunar surface.

Is cotton wool weightless?

What is weightless but you can see it and?

A shadow is something that is weightless but can be seen.

When is something weightless?

Something is weightless when there are no gravitational forces acting upon it.

How do astronaut's move on the moon compered with the earth?

There is less gravity on the moon than earth. Earth has a lot of gravity which is why things feel heavy and fall as quick as they do. The moon has way, way less gravity therefore it feels like you are weightless and drift a little.
