No one really knows when exactly people decided to put glass panes in windows, but it is estimated to be around 100 A.D. Before then windows were just open spaces in the wall, used to let the air come through. The Romans allegedly were the first to try this new development of putting glass over the cutouts in the wall to make windows. The English invented stain glass, to go in their Church chapels.

The concept of using glass for windows dates back thousands of years, with early examples found in ancient Roman and Egyptian civilizations. The first glass windows as we know them today were likely introduced in the 17th century in Europe. However, it is difficult to pinpoint a single inventor as the development of glass windows was a gradual process involving multiple innovations over time.
