Venus has the hottest surface temperature among the planets in our solar system, with an average temperature of 465 degrees Celsius. This extreme heat is due to its thick atmosphere of carbon dioxide that traps heat from the Sun, creating a runaway greenhouse effect.

In actuality, although Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun, Venus (twice as far from Sun) actually has the hottest surface temperature.

The reason is that the surface temperature of Mercury is regulated solely by the Sun (Mercury has no atmosphere) at approximately 430oC ( 806oF) at high point. Due to the Greenhouse Effect on Venus (having an atmosphere made up of various elements), the surface temperature is regulated by the Sun and trapped infrared energy it receives from the Sun, which cannot escape back into space (like it does on Mercury). The result is a surface temperature on Venus that is hotter than on Mercury at approximately 472oC ( 882oF).

Although Mercury is the closest planet to the sun, it is only the second hottest planet after Venus. Venus gets hotter as the thick carbon Dioxide atmosphere holds the heat more effectively, while Mercury has no atmosphere. Surface temperatures on Venus average 735 Kelvin or 460 °C.
Venus has the highest surface temperature. Although Mercury is closer, Venus holds the suns heat in much more efficiently with its thick Carbon Dioxide atmosphere.

What is the hottest planet to the least hottest?

The hottest (surface temperature) is Venus then, getting colder: Mercury, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune and Uranus. (In fact Neptune and Uranus are very similar in temperature.)

Which planet has the hottest surface temperature and is about as big as the earth?

Venus. It is sometimes called Earths twin planet due to it being a similar size and composition. It is also the planet that comes closest to ours. Although Mercury is the closest planet to the sun, it is only the second hottest planet after Venus. Venus gets hotter as the thick carbon Dioxide atmosphere holds the heat more effectively, while Mercury has no atmosphere.

Which is the warmest planet?

Venus is the warmest planet in our solar system, with an average surface temperature of about 465 degrees Celsius (869 degrees Fahrenheit). This extreme heat is due to its thick atmosphere, which traps heat from the sun and creates a runaway greenhouse effect.

What is the hottest planet including the sun?

The hottest planet in our solar system is Venus, with surface temperatures reaching up to 900Β°F (465Β°C). However, the Sun is the hottest celestial body in our solar system, with temperatures in its core reaching millions of degrees Celsius.

What is the 3rd hottest planet?

The 3rd hottest planet in our solar system is Venus. Its thick atmosphere traps heat from the Sun, creating a runaway greenhouse effect that makes it the hottest planet with surface temperatures hot enough to melt lead.
