All the planets go round in a plane, like a big flat dinner plate, with the Sun at the centre. Because the Earth's axis is tilted by 23 degrees, all the planets are sometimes to the north and at other times to the south.

The North star appears to wobble in the sky. Scientists believe that there may be a planet orbiting the star as it revolves around the planet as well. The star is known to be smaller than the solar systems sun and orbits around the planet as the planet also orbits around the star. This makes the star wobble when seen in the sky.

Venus can be closer to Earth than any other planet, though Mars can be closer than Venus at times (when Mars is at its nearest and Venus is on the other side of the Sun). "North" doesn't have a lot of meaning in this respect; none of the solar planets are ever "north" of Earth.

The closest planet to the north of Earth is Venus. It orbits closer to the Sun than Earth does, so it can sometimes be seen in the northern sky.
